Question : What is a difference between SAN and NAS ?
Question : SAN vs NAS
SAN and NAS both are storage type, there are some differences:
SAN | NAS |
SAN Stand for Storage Area Network | NAS Stand for Network Attached Storage |
SAN Used Block level data access | NAS Used File Level data Access |
Fiber Channel is Primary Media so speed is fast | Ethernet is Primary Media, so speed slow and depend of network |
SAN used SCSI | NAS Used NFS/CIFS |
SAN Storage appear as own storage | NAS appear as a shared folder |
Thanks
